In a short year, we have learned so much about being a teacher and the expectations that come with it. Throughout the second year of this program, we have learned a lot about lesson planning, the British Columbia Curriculum, unit planning, yearly planning, and activities we can do for our future careers. The different lessons and activities I am showcasing reflect different teaching styles, grade levels, subjects, and different parts of the curriculum.
I am going to showcase a few of my favorite lesson plans and activities that we have done.
Activities in Physical Education:
Final Planning Assignment- PE (1)
This was my first lesson plan for EPHE 310 that was completed in November 2020. This lesson is for grade 6 students in their second lesson of soccer. This full lesson includes a warm-up, body, culminating activity, developmental task analysis, and UDL inclusions and guidelines.
Along with the planning assignment, I got to work with creating diagrams to help with my lesson plan. It was extremely useful to have the opportunity to work with online diagrams to provide more information on my lesson.
This is a Unit Plan we completed for EPHE 311 with my peers Jessi and Piper. We decided to use soccer as I really enjoyed my lesson plan from last semester and wanted to grow off of it into a full unit for future teaching. This full unit plan with 3 different lesson plans is created for grade 6 level and includes a warm-up, body, culminating activity, UDL inclusions, developmental task analysis, and self-assessment sheets.
How does Physical Activity affect sleep_
This is a special topics project from EPHE 311 that was completed this semester. This activity was completed with my peers Emily and Anna. We investigated ways that physical activity affects sleep, how to get better sleep with physical activity, healthy sleeping habits, and how to incorporate sleep education in the classroom.
This is a yoga lesson plan that my peers, Jessi and Piper and I created and taught the class. This unit plan focuses on relaxation, breathing, and different yoga poses. This is created for grades 6-7 and includes a warm-up, body, culminating activity, and a UDL inclusion.
Activities from other subjects:
Promoting Healthy Relationships Within the Classroom
This is an inquiry project for our 250 Field Experience class last semester. I chose to showcase this project because I am very passionate about healthy classroom relationships; peer relationships, student-teacher relationships, and creating a healthy environment to promote these relationships. I provide ways to promote this in this inquiry and why it is so important. I believe that student collaboration is extremely important, and to promote this we must create a healthy environment for our students to feel safe and comfortable learning and to collaborate in.
The Dialogic Classroom – English Inquiry
This was an inquiry for EDCI 302. I chose to explore the dialogic classroom because as I said, I firmly believe in collaboration between students. In this inquiry, I explored how to ensure students and teachers are prepared for a successful dialogic classroom which includes: the environment, teacher and student scaffolding and preparation, and bringing all these aspects together. I highlight the importance of scaffolding before implementing this practice into the classroom and tools to use to successfully scaffold students into this which includes the environment, tools, expectations, modeling, and preparation.
Assignment 336 – Does Kahoot Support Classroom Learning_
This is a free inquiry project for our Technology class. My classmate Kate and I discussed how Kahoot supports classroom learning. We researched the pros and cons, helpful hints and strategies, and the relationship with teaching and learning through Kahoot. We provided ways Kahoot supports learning and how to utilize it when teaching. Kahoot is a great way to engage students, scaffold prior knowledge, and a helpful way to bring everything together.
This is a digital sketchbook which is a collection of all the resources and activities from our Art class. The intention of this assignment was to create a resource we can use in our future teaching career.
This is an assignment from our drama class last semester. This is important to me as it includes Indigenous practices and studies for a drama class lesson. In this story drama my peers Anna and Judy and I created a lesson plan where students can explore Indigenous studies while playing games and activities.
